A new report commissioned by the Oxfordshire Local Nature Partnership (OLNP) reveals the role new Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) payments can play in financing nature recovery in Oxfordshire.
Oxfordshire County Council has been named by the government as a ‘responsible authority’ for driving nature recovery. It is one of 48 councils set to benefit from a £14 million government funding pot, enabling it to work with local communities to develop a tailored nature recovery strategy for Oxfordshire.
The Oxfordshire Local Nature Partnership is advocating for a stronger role for Local Nature Recovery Strategies in the planning system. Our chair Richard Benwell and manager Matt Whitney met with the the Minister of State for Housing and Planning to ask that the new Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) be made part of local development plans.
